Affordable New Housing

The Sioux Empire Housing Partnership began in 1997 with the primary mission of finding affordable housing for lower-to middle-income individuals and families. This effort takes on many aspects, from relocating and rehabilitating displaced homes to purchasing and rehabilitating HUD foreclosed homes, as well as developing and building new homes at affordable prices. The Partnership believes in revitalization of older neighborhoods and has played a part in rehabilitating these areas, thus improving aesthetic appeal and pride in ownership.

Home ownership results in employee stability for local employers and also increases the tax base for communities. Research has shown that home owners have a greater investment in their communities and children of homeowners tend to do better in schools compared to children of renters. Families who are able to participate in the American Dream of owning a home have a sense of pride and accomplishment.

The Partnership is currently serving the Sioux Falls MSA, which includes Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner adn McCook counties. The SEHP looks forward to expanding to assist other communities, ensuring continued growth and stability for small towns in South Dakota.
